Fleadh Winners 2012

Congratulations to everyone who took part in Fleadh Cheoil na Breataine in Leicester University at the weekend, all our competitors managed to bring home medals! Niamh McLaughlin  came 3rd in the under 12 piano accordion, Jamie McGregor won the under 15 drums and came in 2nd on the bodhrán, Jamie Newall won the senior Drums and Davy Johnstone got 2nd in the senior bodhrán - not a bad achievement for our wee branch! £500 raised for Mary’s Meals

Last weekend's ceili in Calderbank  was a great success and raised £500 for Mary's Meals, thanks to everyone for the support, and to Angela for all the organising. A representative for the charity came along to the music class on Wednesday, and gave an overview of what Mary's meals was all about. All Ireland

It's hard to believe that the All Ireland is nearly upon us once again! Back in Cavan for another year the fleadh should be a great event, as the organisation that went into lest year's was second to none. Again we will be represented by Jamie Mc Gregor who won his 3rd All Britain under 12 drumming competition in a row in Preston in June - well done Jamie and good luck in Ireland! St. Patrick’s Night

Our branch St Patrick's Night was held in the little flower hall in Carfin on Saturday night, and turned out to be a fun night for all ages. We started off with one of Annie's quizzes,( although I think the Quiet Man round was a bit tough!). Annie and Susan treated us to some lovely traditional cooking, this was followed by Irish bingo then a few steps of Irish dancing from Mhairaid, Siobhan, Niamh and Eilidh, with Danny accompanying on Accordion.
